All of our scented candles at Ralph and Forest are carefully hand poured in-house using an organic blend of coconut and soy wax.

Caring for your candles will help your candle thrive and last longer, so you can enjoy the luxurious fragrance, for even longer!

Here’s some of our top tips for caring for your candles.

How to burn your candle

Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, or fans, which can cause rapid, or uneven burning.

Always burn your candle for a minimum of 3 hours. Burning for less time can cause the candle to 'tunnel', which leaves a build-up of wax around the vessel's sides. Burning for longer periods (over five hours) can cause the wick to move, or slant. At ralph HOME we burn our candles for around 4 hours each time.

Caring for your wick

To ensure your candle maintains a top quality burn throughout its life, you will need to trim the wick to 5mm between each burn.

Although our organic vegan friendly wax doesn’t allow for any sooting, a long or crooked wick can create high flames, or smoking. Trimming the wick to 5mm (when the wax has set) is the best way to prevent this.

Our stylish wick trimmers are conveniently designed to trim the wick of your candle to this exact length, as well as catch any debris. Trimming your candle wick in between each burn as well as re-centring and straighten the wick will significantly extend the burn time of your candle; allowing you to enjoy beautiful fragrance in your home for even longer.

Another must have for when caring for your candles, is our candle snuffers. Blowing out our candles is something we’ve all been guilty of, but did you know blowing out a candle can dig the wick into the wax, splatter wax against the candle vessel and also produce an excessive level of smoke, which can spoil the scent throw.

Safely extinguishing the flame with one of our stylish candle snuffers, will prevent this from happening, whilst also doubling up as a stylish accessory in any interior.
